Your trusted and professional osteopath on the central coast

Osteopathy is a philosophy which sees a dynamic relationship between the structure of the body and its function.

Dr A T Still (1828-1917)was an American medical doctor and practicing surgeon who founded of Osteopathy in 1874. He saw the body as self-maintaining and self-regulating but recognised that the body’s equilibrium could be disturbed by external factors including, but not limited to, injuries, occupationally induced strain and incorrect posture

There is a lot of crossover with the types of hands on therapy osteopaths use compared with physiotherapy, massage and chiropractic but our main differentiating factor is our underlying philosophy of care.

What is Osteopathy?

Osteopaths are guided by the following principles

1 The body is a unit

2 The body is capable of self regulation, self healing and health maintainence

3 Structure and Function are Reciprocally Interrelated

My story

Hi, I’m Tidal Osteopathy’s founder Ed Santamaria.

Since graduating in 2012 from RMIT Melbourne, I have been passionately treating a wide array of people from all walks of life starting my career in Port Macquarie, then returning to Melbourne and recently chasing the sun and surf landing in Bateau Bay.

I treat all types of injuries and enjoy problem solving the more complex ones ranging from lower back and neck pain, headaches, sporting injuries, women during and post pregnancy as well as patients with arthritic and metabolic conditions.

Using a belief system that guides patients to long term health, I incorporate a philosophy that addresses not only physical but emotional and behavioural aspects.

With post-graduate training in the treatment & management of concussion, Cranial, Biodynamic Osteopathy and Rule of the Artery which are gentle forms of treatment I focus on the deeper systems of the body (including the circulatory, nerve and organ systems) that may help patients suffering from chronic pain and more complex injuries.

I have trained in advanced dry needling and have a strong interest in running related injuries incorporating running technique coaching and rehabilitation. Keeping fit and healthy is a huge passion of mine, having completed in multiple full and half Ironman triathlons (representing Australia in the Chicago 2015 age group world championships in Olympic distance triathlon) and marathon races.

Outside the clinic you can find me surfing, camping, spending time with my wife and two kids and desperately supporting the Carlton Blues hoping for a premiership hopefully this lifetime.
